Friday, August 13, 2004- Tarkington firefighters were called to assist Cleveland Fire Department with a house fire on FM1725 (Hillstore Road). Bear Creek and Splendora VFDs were also called to assist on this large fire. TVFD responded with Unit #503, Tanker 57 , and four firefighters. Tarkington firefighters were on the scene till app. 1:30 am Saturday morning and Tanker 57 shuttled 15,000 gallons of water in an effort to extinguish the fire.

Thursday, August 12, 2004 - Tarkington VFD was called to a mobile home fire on Goat Road. Tarkington responded with Unit 503,Engine 54 , Tanker 57 , Booster 55 , and five firefighters. Cleveland Fire Department was called for mutual aid and responded with a tanker, an engine, and two boosters. When Tarkington firefighters arrived, the trailer was heavily involved and was threatening another home nearby to the point where the other home's paint was bubbling and smoking. TVFD's first action was to protect the other home before attempting to extinguish the original fire. Over 5000 gallons of water and foam were used on the original fire before it was extinguished.
