Thursday, October 5, 2006 - At app. 22:25, TVFD was dispatched to a report of a structure fire on CR2236. TVFD responded with Unit 501, Engine 54 with Unit 503 and three firefighters, and Engine 53 with Unit 502 and two firefighters to find a double-wide manufactured home heavily involved. Cleveland, North Liberty County, and Cypress Lakes Fire Departments were called to provide mutual aid in terms of tankers and manpower. Liberty County Fire Marshall Jim Wilson was also called to investigate. Fire department units were on location till after 1:30 Friday morning fighting the stubborn blaze.

Wednesday, October 4th - At app. 5:15, Tarkington firefighters were dispatched to a report of a MVA on SH321 near CR308. TVFD responded with Unit 501, Engine 54 with Unit 502 and two firefighters, Rescue 51 with two firefighters, and Booster 55 with one firefighter to find two 18-wheelers and a pickup truck involved in a near head-on collision in the heavy fog. The driver of the pickup truck sustained serious injuries and was pinned in his vehicle, requiring the use of the vehicle extrication tools. One of the tractor-trailer rigs was loaded with a non-hazardous chemical that had to be transferred into another tank. Tarkington firefighters stayed on location till after 13:00 monitoring the transfer.

At app. 16:15, TVFD was dispatched to a report of a MVA somewhere on FM2518. TVFD responded with Unit 501, Unit 502, Unit 504,and Engine 54 with Unit 503 and one firefighter, but were unable to locate any wreck on FM2518.
At app. 17:20, TVFD was dispatched to a report of an 18-wheeler with an engine fire on SH105 at FM2518. TVFD responded with Unit 501, Unit 502, Engine 54 with Unit 503 and four firefighters, and Booster 55 with Unit 505 to find a tractor-trailer rig with light smoke showing from the engine compartment.
