Saturday, July 2, 2005- TVFD was dispatched to a reported brush fire on FM787 app. 3/4 mile east of FM2518 at app. 15:30. TVFD responded with Unit 502, Booster 55 with two firefighters, Tanker 57 with two firefighters, and Booster 53 with two firefighters to find two unattended burn piles had gotten out of control and spread to the nearby woods. Cleveland FD was called to provide mutual aid on the fire and the Texas Forestry Service was called to plow a containment line around the fire. Since there is a burn ban on for Liberty County prohibiting ANY outside burning, Liberty County Sheriff's Office was contacted regarding any possible fines.
Tuesday, June 28, 2005- At app. 19:15, Tarkington firefighters were called to a reported fire at a construction site. TVFD responded with Unit 502, Engine 54 with five firefighters, and Tanker 57 with two firefighters to find an unattended trash fire. Since there is now a burn ban in effect, TVFD exinguished the fire.
At app. 19:30, TVFD was called to a washdown on FM787 near the entrance to Chain 'O Lakes. TVFD responded with Booster 55 with two firefighters to find a semi-tractor had rolled over, spilling a large amount of motor oil onto the roadway. TVFD used MicroBlaze to remove the spill. North Liberty County VFD provided mutual aid.
Friday, June 24, 2005- Tarkington First Responders were called to a near drowning in Macedonia. TVFD responded with Unit 503 and Booster 55 with two firefighters. City of Cleveland transported a three-year old female to a local hospital.
Thursday, June 23, 2005- At app. 19:45, Tarkington First Responders were requested to meet a 57-year old male at the TVFD station. The man was complaining of a snakebite on his hand. TVFD provided patient care until the arrival of the ambulance.
Wednesday, June 22, 2005- At app. 19:45, Tarkington First Responders were called to a reported attempted suicide on CR2267. TVFD responded with Unit 502 and Booster 55 with two firefighters.
Monday, June 20, 2005- At app. 14:30, Tarkington Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in Spring Oaks. TVFD responded with Unit 503 and Engine 54 with three firefighters to find a manufactured home with heavy fire showing. TVFD initiated a fast-attack, confining the fire to the washroom and kitchen. Cleveland VFD provided mutual aid on the call. In the first photo below, Cleveland firefighters ventilate the roof of the home. In the second, Cleveland and Tarkington firefighters initiate the interior attack, while in the last, Tarkington firefighter Russell Reed works to extinguish the blaze along an outside wall.
At app. 17:30,TVFD was called to a MVA on Oak Shade Road. TVFD responded with Unit 502, Unit 503 and Engine 54 with three firefighters to find a Chevrolet truck with four occupants had been involved in an one-vehicle accident. Two of the occupants of the truck were taken by City of Cleveland EMS to a local hospital.
