Thursday, December 30, 2004- TVFD began the day early at app. 04:30, responding first to a report of a structure fire on Center Street in Green Acres. Tarkington responded with Unit 503, Engine 54 with three firefighters, and Tanker 57 with two firefighters. The call ended up being a controlled burn. At app. 07:30, TVFD was dispatched to a major accident on Ballard Road off of SH105. TVFD responded with Unit 503, Engine 54, Rescue 51, and Booster 55 with a total of eight firefighters. Upon arrival, Tarkington firefighters found a white van on its side with two injured children and one adult occupant still in the vehicle. TVFD was able to remove the children, but had to use the hydraulic extrication tools (the "Jaws of Life") to remove the rear door to assist in removing the adult from the van. All occupants were transported to area hospital via City of Cleveland EMS.
While still in the process of returning to station, TVFD was again dispatched at app. 10:30 to a structure fire near the intersection of CR2305 and CR2307. TVFD responded with Unit 503, Engine 54 with two firefighters, Tanker 57 with two firefighters, Rescue 51 with one firefighter, and Booster 55 with two firefighters. The call turned out to be an electrical fire at the meter loop. Sam Houston Electrical was called to assist.
Tuesday, December 28, 2004- Tarkington VFD responded to a report of an unknown-type fire on Tree Monkey Road. TVFD responded with Booster 55, Engine 54, and four firefighters. Cleveland FD was called for mutual aid on what turned out to be a grass fire.
Sunday, December 26, 2004- Tarkington firefighters had a busy day, responding to five separate incidents during the day, including: a report of a tree down on a powerline on SH105 at the Trinity River, a brush fire on SH321 app. 1/2 mile south of SH105, an auto accident on FM787 near Oak Shade Road, a mutual aid First Responder call on FM2610 near Six Lake Grocery, and multiple reports of an explosion in the vicinity of Goat Road. TVFD was unable to locate the source of the explosion despite searching for over twenty minutes.
Saturday, December 25, 2004- TVFD responded to a grass fire on New River Lake Estate Road off of FM787. Tarkington responded with Booster 55 and two firefighters to find app. one acre on fire. North Liberty County VFD was on location upon TVFD's arrival.
Monday, December 20, 2004- Tarkington VFD was called to the scene of a head-on collision, rollover, and fire involving three vehicles on SH321 and CR2247. The location was on the very edge of TVFD's territory and was actually closer to Cleveland than Tarkington's station, so Cleveland FD was called to assist. TVFD responded with Booster 55, Engine 54, Rescue 51, and a total of six firefighters.
